Louisville starts their 9th different starting lineup and this might be the winning combination against Florida State.
Skyy Clark and Hercy Miller were sidelined due to hip injuries. This misfortune allowed Brooklyn native Ty-Laur Johnson to orchestrate a mega performance for the Cards. Let’s call it the Ty-Laur Johnson show! He played out of his mind and sneakers!
Johnson and Huntley-Hadley masterfully took care of the ball throughout the first and second halves. Johnson amassed 27 pts with 11 assists while Huntley-Hatfield secured 29 pts 7 rebounds (career-high). Huntley-Hatfield fouled out of the game in the final minutes of the game. Johnson controlled the tempo and the pace with his penetration along with the help of Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. They knew the assignment!
Everything kept coming up Louisville, from control of the game to free throw percentages. Florida failed to set their defense giving Louisville opportunities to create a lead in scoring early on. Intensity, confidence and a rowdy crowd helped secure a 12 point lead for the Cards in the ending of the first half.
The Cards play next at Syracuse on February 7th at 7 pm.
