Coco Gauff took no prisoners at the 2025 Cincinnati Open as she showcased her form during the memorable second-round victory over Xinyu Wang.
Coco Gauff defeated Xinyu Wang 6-3, 6-2, securing her place in the Round of 32 at the Cincinnati Open. The World No. 2 delivered a controlled and professional performance, dropping just five games in total and wrapping up the match in approximately 70 minutes.
Despite entering the match with a troubling serve (eight double faults in her first three service games), Gauff quickly calmed her nerves—going error-free from there on and dramatically improving her consistency. She capitalized fully on Wang’s weaknesses—converting all five break points Wang handed her, while also saving five of seven break chances against her.
Gauff will face Dayana Yastremska—the very opponent who knocked her out of Wimbledon just weeks ago—in what promises to be a high-stakes rematch.
