Iga Świątek defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-1, 6-4 in the second round, booking her spot in the Round of 32. The contest lasted approximately 1 hour and 13 minutes in very hot conditions. Świątek’s aggressive play and strong serving set a clear tone.
Potapova raised her level, pushing Świątek with more sustained rallies and break-point opportunities. Still, Świątek held her composure—saving four out of five break points, including three while serving for the match—and closed out the set 6-4.
The victory extended Świątek’s streak to 64 consecutive opening-match wins at WTA tournaments—matching a record set by Monica Seles in the early ’90s.
She dispatched Potapova with polish and efficiency—then showed grit when the match tightened. Building on her Wimbledon triumph earlier in the summer, Świątek continues to assert herself as a multi-surface force to be reckoned with.
