The Louisville Cardinals women’s basketball team pulled off a thrilling 70-63 upset over the No. 21 California Golden Bears on Thursday night at the KFC Yum! Center. This win marks Louisville’s second victory over a ranked opponent this season. Olivia Cochran led the charge, scoring 18 points and grabbing a team-best nine rebounds, while also reaching a milestone 1,500 career points. Imari Berry added 14 points off the bench, and Ja’Leah Williams chipped in with 11 points. The Cardinals’ strong defensive effort forced 23 California turnovers, holding the Golden Bears to 6-28 from beyond the arc.
Louisville’s win improves their record to 16-7 overall and 9-3 in the ACC. Next up, the Cardinals will face Stanford on Sunday, February 9, at the KFC Yum! Center, with tipoff set for 12:00 p.m. and broadcast on ESPN2.
