The Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball team took down the Virginia Cavaliers 81-67 on January 18, 2025, at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This win marks Louisville’s eighth consecutive victory, improving their record to 14-5 overall and 7-1 in the ACC. The Cardinals had a strong team performance, with four players scoring in double figures. They outrebounded Virginia 36-30 and totaled 38 points in the paint. Louisville’s win was also fueled by their ability to share the ball, showcasing their positive team culture and synergy. Virginia, on the other hand, struggled to keep up, despite a strong performance from Elijah Saunders, who matched his career high with 10 rebounds and scored a team-best 19 points. The Cavaliers have now lost five games in a row, falling to 8-10 overall and 1-6 in the ACC.
Next up Louisville will travel to SMU for a 9pm matchup on January 21, 2025.
