Louisville Women’s Basketball falls to Oklahoma 78-72

Oklahoma’s women’s basketball team defeated Louisville 78-72 in their SEC/ACC Challenge game on December 4, 2024, at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The Sooners, ranked 11th, came back from a 17-point deficit to win, led by Payton Verhulst’s 21 points, including two free throws with 2:21 remaining in the fourth quarter that gave Oklahoma its first lead since the game was 14-13. Louisville’s Olivia Cochran scored a season-high 17 points with 9 rebounds and 2 assists, while Merissah Russell added 14 points. The Cardinals had a strong start, leading 41-24 in the second quarter, but Oklahoma rallied in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The victory marked Jennie Baranczyk’s 12th top-25 win as Oklahoma’s head coach.

Oklahoma’s next game is against Alabama State on December 8, while Louisville will face No. 2 UConn in the Champions Classic on December 7 in Brooklyn, NY.
